Survey Reveals Rising Concern Over Facial Fat Loss Following Weight Loss

A Northern Ireland entrepreneur has transformed his personal weight-loss journey into a skincare business designed to support people using GLP-1 medications.
After losing nine stone with the help of the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, Marc McKee, the content creator and business owner decided to launch his own skincare line after experiencing first-hand the effects rapid weight loss can have on the skin.
The founder, who documented his journey online and built an audience of more than 500,000 followers across social media platforms, said the idea for the brand emerged from the questions he was receiving daily from others undergoing similar experiences.
“I started at 24 stone in August 2024 and reached my goal weight of 14.5 stone by May 2025,” Marc explained. “It completely changed my life, but throughout the process people kept asking what I was doing for my skin.”
Having struggled with obesity throughout his life, he initially turned to GLP-1 medication after being warned by medical professionals that his health was at serious risk.
“My blood pressure was high, I had liver issues and my overall health was in a very poor state,” he said. “The medication helped me regain control of my health, but I quickly realised that significant weight loss also creates challenges for the skin.”
As he shared his progress online, followers regularly asked how he had avoided some of the loose skin and facial volume loss often associated with rapid weight reduction.
The entrepreneur began researching skincare ingredients while trialling products from numerous brands that were sent to him through his social media channels. Through months of testing, he identified a number of ingredients that appeared to work particularly well for his skin, including hyaluronic acid, ceramides, peptides, rosehip oil and aloe leaf juice.
“I became fascinated by the science behind skincare,” he said. “I wanted to understand which ingredients supported hydration, elasticity and collagen production during weight loss.”
His confidence in the approach grew after consultations with surgeons who were surprised by the condition of his skin following such a substantial weight loss.
“One surgeon told me he couldn’t believe I’d lost nine stone,” he said. “He expected to see much more excess skin and encouraged me to continue doing whatever I was doing because it was clearly helping.”
The result was the creation of a skincare system specifically designed for individuals experiencing skin changes during weight loss journeys.
Alongside topical skincare products, the range incorporates red light therapy technology, which the founder credits as an important part of his own routine.
The collection includes hydration-focused serums, peptide-based formulations, a plant-derived retinol alternative and a ceramide-rich night cream, all selected to support skin barrier function and maintain hydration.
A key focus of the range is sensitive skin.
“Many people on GLP-1 medications report increased skin sensitivity and dryness,” he explained. “I wanted to create products that were gentle and nourishing rather than relying on harsher active ingredients.”
Before launching, the entrepreneur and podcast host invited members of the GLP-1 community to trial the system. Participants reported improvements in skin quality, firmness and elasticity after using the products consistently over a six-week period.
While the products have not undergone formal clinical trials, the range is dermatologically tested and formulated with vegan, cruelty-free and naturally derived ingredients.
The founder believes the brand fills a gap in the market as demand for GLP-1 medications continues to rise across the UK and Ireland.
“There are more people than ever losing significant amounts of weight with these medications,” he said. “I wanted to create something based on my own experience and provide support for others going through the same journey.”
With online sales already underway, the company is now exploring opportunities to expand into aesthetic clinics and retail outlets, with plans to announce new stockists later this year.
As the popularity of GLP-1 treatments continues to grow, the entrepreneur hopes his business will help address an often-overlooked aspect of weight loss.
“For me, it was never just about losing weight,” he said. “It was about feeling healthier, feeling more confident and helping my skin adapt throughout the journey.”
