The British Association of Medical Aesthetic Nurses (BAMAN) has announced a series of Board appointments and senior leadership developments, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s continued growth and its commitment to advancing safe, ethical standards within medical aesthetics.
Central to the announcement is the appointment of Anna Baker as Vice Chair. A long-standing member of the BAMAN community for over a decade, Baker has played an instrumental role within the organisation, serving previously as a Director and Chair of the Education and Training Committee. Her appointment reflects both her leadership and her ongoing dedication to supporting medical aesthetic nurses across the UK.
Commenting on her new role, Baker said she is “truly honoured” to step into the position, adding that her focus will be on strengthening connections within the membership and ensuring individuals feel supported, valued and inspired. She also emphasised the importance of education in empowering nurses to develop with confidence and uphold high standards of practice.
Alongside this appointment, BAMAN has confirmed several additions to its Board of Directors. Julie Brackenbury, Helen Blanchard and Kelly Saynor have been named as Co-opted Company Directors, subject to approval at the next AGM. Emma Wedgwood and Fiona Wondergem join as Non-Executive Directors, further strengthening the organisation’s governance and strategic oversight. They will work alongside existing Directors Amy Bird (Chair), Anna Baker (Vice Chair) and Amanda Demosthenous.
The newly formed Board is set to convene for a dedicated strategy day and Board meeting, where future priorities will be outlined. This follows recent governance developments, including the introduction of Bye-Laws and an ongoing review of the Articles of Association—measures designed to enhance transparency, accountability and operational clarity.
In parallel with Board changes, BAMAN has introduced a refreshed senior leadership structure to support its expanding remit. After a decade of service, Gareth Lewis transitions into the role of Chief Executive Officer, having most recently served as Chief Operating Officer and played a key role in governance and strategic delivery.
Supporting this evolution, Abi Geran will take on the role of Head of Operations, overseeing the Regional Leader network and operational delivery, while also preparing to assume Company Secretary responsibilities later this year. Bec Coleman has been appointed Head of Brand, leading marketing strategy and managing the organisation’s growing communications function.
Lewis noted that the changes reflect BAMAN’s commitment to building a sustainable and forward-thinking organisation. He added that the focus remains firmly on supporting members while upholding the highest standards within medical aesthetics.
These developments reinforce BAMAN’s position as a leading professional body for aesthetic nurses in the UK, as it continues to shape the future of the profession through strong governance, education and community engagement.
Gareth Lewis, CEO, said: “As we continue to grow and evolve our Head Office team, our focus remains firmly on supporting our members and upholding the highest standards within medical aesthetics.
“These changes reflect our commitment to building a strong, sustainable organisation that not only represents our nurses, but actively shapes the profession’s future.”
