BTL Ireland has officially opened its new headquarters in Dublin, marking a significant investment in the company’s continued growth across aesthetics, rehabilitation, physiotherapy and women’s health.

The opening welcomed leading clinicians, aesthetic practitioners, industry partners and members of the press to experience the company’s new Irish base while hearing first-hand about the latest developments in BTL’s expanding technology portfolio.

The evening’s panel discussion was chaired by The Irish Times Beauty Editor Simone Gannon and featured Michelle Gleeson, National Sales Manager for BTL Aesthetics; Avril Flynn, Women’s Health & Wellness Specialist; and Dr Karl Fullam, Clinical Lead and Head of Sales at BTL Medical Ireland.

Opening the event, Managing Director of BTL Ireland, Dee Macmahon outlined BTL’s global scale and the importance of the Irish market within the company’s long-term strategy.

She said: “BTL is now a 33-year-old business with manufacturing sites around the world and more than 650 biomechanical engineers working full-time in research and development.”

While many practitioners associate BTL primarily with its aesthetics portfolio, Macmahon highlighted the breadth of the company’s operations, which span four core divisions. This includes aesthetics, physiotherapy, rehabilitation robotics, and women’s health and wellness.

She also reinforced BTL’s commitment to supporting clinics beyond equipment installation.

“As a partner to our customers, we’re here to support them with engineers, clinical teams and training specialists across every division of the business. It’s about ensuring practices can maximise both patient outcomes and the technologies they’ve invested in.”

Discussing market trends, National Sales Manager, Michelle Gleeson explained that patient expectations have evolved significantly, with increasing demand for non-invasive procedures that stimulate the body’s own regenerative processes.

She said: “Patients are looking for treatments that deliver natural, long-lasting results without downtime.”

Central to that shift has been EmFace, BTL’s facial remodelling platform, which combines synchronised radiofrequency with high-intensity facial electrical stimulation to target both skin quality and underlying facial musculature.

“Rather than relaxing muscles, we’re activating the facial elevator muscles to restore natural lift while simultaneously improving collagen and elastin production.”

There is currently ongoing product development to expand clinical applications, including recently introduced protocols for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and facial palsy.

“We’re seeing exceptional outcomes for chronic TMJ patients, with significant reductions in pain after only a small number of treatments.”

Education has always remained a key part of BTL’s commercial model.

“We don’t simply supply devices. We provide continuous clinical education, business development support and technical training to ensure our partners achieve the best possible outcomes.”

Women’s health moves into the aesthetic conversation

Women’s intimate health has become one of the fastest-growing categories within medical aesthetics, and women’s health & wellness specialist, Avril Flynn believes the sector is only beginning to realise its potential.

Drawing on her clinical background as a midwife, Flynn described how technologies such as Emsella are changing both patient care and practitioner conversations.

“For too long, women accepted issues such as urinary incontinence as simply part of ageing or childbirth,” she said. “They suffered in silence because there weren’t effective, non-invasive treatment options available.

“The impact goes far beyond continence. It improves confidence, quality of life and often sexual wellbeing. These are areas that have historically been overlooked.”

Flynn also discussed EmFemme 360, BTL’s radiofrequency platform for vaginal rejuvenation, which is designed to restore tissue quality by stimulating collagen remodelling.

“The combination of Emsella and EmFemme allows clinics to offer a comprehensive women’s wellness pathway rather than treating symptoms in isolation.”

She believes intimate wellness is becoming an increasingly important addition to aesthetic practice.

“We have to stop separating medical care from wellness. Women want treatments that help them feel healthier, more confident and improve their quality of life.”

Mental wellness joins the portfolio

Flynn also introduced Exomind, BTL’s transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) platform designed to support mental wellness.

While TMS has long been established within psychiatry, BTL has adapted the technology to target stress, focus and sleep quality in otherwise healthy individuals.

As patient demand increasingly shifts towards preventative health and longevity, she believes technologies that combine wellness with measurable clinical outcomes will continue to gain traction.

Medical technologies extend beyond aesthetics

Although aesthetics remains BTL’s highest-profile division, Dr Karl Fullam highlighted the company’s continued investment in rehabilitation medicine and physiotherapy.

“Our first product over three decades ago was actually a physiotherapy device,” he said. “Medical rehabilitation remains a fundamental part of the company’s DNA.”

BTL’s medical portfolio now includes physiotherapy equipment, diagnostic technologies, cardiovascular devices, robotic rehabilitation systems and neurological rehabilitation platforms.

Fullam stressed that clinical evidence underpins every product within the portfolio.

He also highlighted BTL’s robotic rehabilitation systems, including powered exoskeletons, anti-gravity treadmills and upper-limb rehabilitation technologies designed for neurological recovery.

“Our goal is to improve independence and functional recovery. Whether that’s helping someone return to elite sport or enabling a stroke survivor to regain everyday movement, the objective is always better patient outcomes.”

Positioning for future growth

The opening of the Citywest headquarters signals BTL Ireland’s continued investment in the Irish healthcare market and reflects broader trends across aesthetics and medical technology, where preventative care, regenerative medicine and patient-centred wellness continue to drive demand.

With ongoing investment in research and development, an expanding product portfolio and increasing collaboration across aesthetics, medicine and rehabilitation, BTL is positioning itself not simply as a device manufacturer but as a long-term clinical partner for healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines.
