Dozens of aesthetic nurses gathered on Saturday, April 25, for the BAMAN Northern Ireland regional meeting, held at Face Therapy NI. The event delivered a full day of education, live demonstrations, and industry discussion, highlighting the continued growth and professionalism of the aesthetics sector in the region.
Organised by regional leads Emma Heaney, Lisa Waring, and Tanya Khan, the meeting was designed to support practitioners with up-to-date clinical knowledge while fostering collaboration across Northern Ireland’s aesthetics community.
Attendees participated in a range of expert-led talks and practical demonstrations, with a strong emphasis on patient safety, evidence-based practice, and navigating the challenges of a rapidly evolving industry.

BAMAN’s regional lead, Emma Heaney said: “The vision was to create an educational, collaborative, and inspiring environment where aesthetic practitioners could come together to learn, network, and elevate standards within our industry. Aesthetics is constantly evolving, and it is vital that practitioners have access to high-quality education, the latest innovations, and opportunities to share experiences with like-minded professionals. Events like this help foster a sense of community while ultimately improving patient safety and treatment outcomes.”
Heaney also addressed the key challenges facing practitioners across the UK, highlighting concerns around regulation.
“One of the most significant challenges is the lack of robust regulation across the industry,” she said. “While many practitioners uphold exceptional standards, inconsistencies in training and qualifications can undermine public trust and patient safety.
“In addition, practitioners must navigate an increasingly competitive market, managing consumer expectations, and the rapid pace of technological advancements. Remaining compliant, educated, and clinically excellent has never been more important.”
Looking ahead, she emphasised the growing role of nurses within the field.
“Nurses will continue to play an increasingly influential role within medical aesthetics. Their strong clinical foundations, patient-centred approach, and commitment to safety position them perfectly to lead the future of the industry. I anticipate nurses becoming even more involved in education, research, leadership, and shaping regulatory frameworks. As demand for evidence-based, medically led treatments grows, nurses will remain at the forefront of delivering exceptional patient care.”
Speakers on the day included Kerry Hanaphy and Dr Kaly Jaff who spoke about their personal experiences within the aesthetics industry.
The Belfast meeting marks another step in BAMAN’s efforts to strengthen regional engagement, and support the professional development of aesthetic practitioners across Northern Ireland.
