The founders of the Institute of Dermatologists – Professor Caitriona Ryan and Professor Nicola Ralph – have launched a new supplement designed to support the biological processes linked to skin ageing.
ID Formulas was developed in response to growing demand from patients seeking evidence-based solutions for skin, hair and healthy ageing. The product is positioned as a more science-led alternative in the supplement market.
Professor Caitriona Ryan said that the formula was inspired by a shift in understanding around ageing, with visible skin changes increasingly seen as the result of deeper cellular processes such as oxidative stress, inflammation, mitochondrial decline and reduced DNA repair.
“Most products in this space are designed around cosmetic outcomes. ID Formulas is fundamentally different,” she said. “It is a systems-based formulation designed to target multiple pathways involved in cellular ageing.”
“The formulation includes 32 active ingredients selected for their roles in mitochondrial function, DNA repair, inflammatory balance, antioxidant defence, and structural tissue support. It is also supported by a dual evidence approach.”
The launch is backed by a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, alongside a real-world user programme, The Circle, and a partnership with WHOOP to track biometric data including sleep and recovery. A dedicated photobiology study is also under way to assess the formula’s effect on UV response.
Prof Ryan and Prof Ralph say the supplement is intended to complement clinic-led dermatology and aesthetic treatments by supporting internal repair and recovery, rather than replacing in-clinic procedures.
The launch comes amid growing consumer interest in longevity science and supplements backed by measurable results, as demand shifts beyond traditional beauty claims.
